First Lesson of 2025
Good morning, Friends!
I hope you have had a wonderful start to 2025!
I am moving, so things are a bit hectic here.
Today (Friday), I had a free day with many choices about what to do. In hindsight, I made the wrong choices.
One of my goals for 2025 is to prioritize well and not just try to juggle all the things.
Well, you guessed it: I failed to prioritize. Hence, it’s 10 p.m., and I’m just now writing my blog.
But that’s okay because I will share the lesson I learned.
Lesson: Mistakes Are Not Failure
Missing my mark just three days into the new year isn’t an abject failure.
The past can help our future. I knew because of my past that this year I want to make prioritizing a goal. And today’s mistake is part of my past.
We don’t have to see our goals for the new year in black and white. Achieving them is not a pass/fail, hard stop between 2024 and 2025.
One of my mentors said, “Whenever you feel like you’re going backward, you’re actually getting ready for a huge leap.”
That’s how I choose to view today’s mistake:
- Prioritizing is a change I’m making currently. There’s a learning curve. I don’t have to have a hard-stop, never make a mistake again mentality.
- Learning that I didn’t prioritize today, I’ll be on the lookout for the next chance to prioritize next time. I’m ready to make a huge leap to become a prioritizing master.
Conclusion
I hope you’re also giving yourself some grace with your New Year’s goals.
How are your New Year’s changes going?
Let me know in the comments 🙂
Ciao for now,
Hi Nakina – I absolutely love your attitude! Learning from areas that you can improve upon and not repeating mistakes is much more profitable in the long run than dwelling on those mistakes. This is great advice for all of us as we will all, on occasion, fail to prioritize and possibly miss opportunities. Thanks for the reminder and Happy New Year!
Hi, Ernie!
I have been a sulker in the past. When I fail to meet a goal, I usually get so disheartened that I consider myself a failure. I once worked out 80 days in a row until I had a terrible migraine. I let the loss of momentum stop me even though there was a perfectly reasonable explanation of the break. I’m glad to say that outlook is in the past. I’m just going to continue acting and see where that takes me. Self-judgment no more!
Happy New Year!
Nakina
Good to see you this new year Nakina. I’m glad you brought up this idea of prioritization. I think I do a good job of this within my busisness – but add the mix of life and I find I am still trying to get it right.
A new change for me this year so far is that I do up a broadcast email the day before. My thinking is that this will free up some morning time – giving me better opportunity to get into the gym early. And with the mindset of a New Years Resolutioner I’m planning on 3 times per week in the gym – the last couple of months I count myself lucky if I make it in one time per week.
Good luck on the move and getting settled in.

Hey, Robert!
I can see that you probably prioritize your business very well. You get done what you say you’re doing very well. I like the idea of doing a broadcast the day before. I still get a case of nerves trying to write them, and that would take some of the pressure off. I like that very much! I’m gonna give it a go.
Good luck at the gym. I think health priorities are among the hardest promises to keep to ourselves. It seems I’m only letting down me if I do something else instead. Of course, that’s not true. But it is really empowering to keep that promise to ourselves. I think of you now when I wonder if I should have a second cookie. You’re holding me accountable now that I know we’re both working on our A1C 🙂
Here’s to cheering each other on in 2025!
Nakina
Happy new year Nakina,
Great blog entry! Love the fact that you bring about: don’t be so hard on yourself!
The one big thing I also took from 2024 was that, even though my objectives may not have all been totally achieved, I know that my knowledge base grew exponentially and that is what will bring me success in 2025!
Here’s hoping the move went all right though 🙂
To your success in 2025!
Hi, Marc!
All our past work does form a springboard for this year’s success. I am looking forward to seeing visible progress this year, too. The results are bound to come based on the processes set in place. I’m so excited for 2025!
Onward and upward!

Good morning, Nakina! ☀️
Happy New Year! I love your perspective on mistakes—not as failures, but as valuable lessons that guide us toward growth. It’s so true that our journey toward achieving our goals is rarely linear, and recognizing that setbacks are part of the process can actually empower us to keep moving forward.
Your commitment to prioritization is inspiring! It’s a challenge many of us face, especially when life gets hectic. Remember, every step—whether forward or backward—is an opportunity to learn and adapt. I’m excited to see you become a “prioritizing master” this year!
As for my New Year’s changes, I’m in the process of refining my focus too. It’s a journey, and I appreciate the reminder to give ourselves grace along the way.
Let’s keep supporting each other in achieving our goals this year! Cheers to learning and growing together! 🙌
Hey, Ezequiel!
I like your way of putting it: Setbacks are part of the process. This perspective does help me keep moving forward. I also like your idea that we can learn from our setbacks as well as our progress. This is such a different perspective than what I started my business with. Let’s do give each other grace and support each other along the way!
Cheers to us!
Nakina
